Perlore's Guide to Jewellery Care
At Perlore, we believe that every piece of jewellery tells a story of natural beauty and timeless elegance. Proper care is essential for keeping your jewellery sparkling and secure for a lifetime.
The Last On, First Off Rule: Put your jewellery on after applying makeup, lotion, perfume, and hairspray. Take it off before removing clothes to avoid snagging.
Remove for Activity: Take off jewellery before gardening, cleaning, exercising, or swimming. Household chemicals (like bleach) and pool chlorine are very damaging to gold and pearls.
Avoid Oil and Harsh Chemicals: Oil, Hairspray, perfume, cosmetics, and lotions all contain ingredients that can dull a pearl's surface and diminish its beautiful orient. Avoid chlorine bleach, acetone, or harsh cleaners.
Avoid abrasive materials.
Never use home ultrasonic cleaners.
Proper Storage: Separate jewellery pieces in dry environment and consider using a safe or secure deposit box for protection against theft for high value items.
Routine At-Home Cleaning: Simply use soft, damp cloth and a very mild, non-detergent soap to clean. Gently wipe your jewellery piece to remove any buildup, then rinse with a cloth dampened with fresh water. Crucially, close the drain or use a second bowl of clean water to avoid losing your piece!
Dry & Polish: Pat the jewellery dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. You can also let it air dry. Use the cloth for a final gentle polish to restore the metal's shine.
